Two-Bits - Bonus Examples

An example of what to expect.

  • When you get right down to it, the description of scavenger hunts in AMA's rule book accurately describes this type of motorcycle rally. A list of bonus locations ("bonii") are scattered mostly along a base route with a few others spread farther abroad, with each of them worth a certain number of points. The objective of the rally is to ponder the bonus listings provided at the rally and decide which bonii to collect, keeping in mind a pace that is comfortable to you and where you'd prefer to ride. Here is a very short example using some bonii from previous Two-Bits Rallies.
  • US-24 MP-254 to MP-255 - At the Forest Service visitor center is a sign describing some of the hardy pioneers of South Park. One of those pioneers was Father John Dyer who was known as the ______ in the local mining camps.
  • Bent's Old Fort near La Junta - 101 points - Visit Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site near La Junta, Colorado. At the visitor center obtain a National Park Passport stamp with today's date. If you don't have a National Park Passport book you may want to purchase one and start a collection of park stamps. It's very addicting and will take you to many a park or monument that you might not have visited otherwise. To get to Bent's Old Fort from US-50 in La Junta, follow the signs that will direct you to travel 1 mile north on CO-109, then 6 miles east on CO-194.
  • Using this very simple example, you would have to make a decision whether to:
    1) Ride US-24 to the Forest Service visitor center between milepost 254 and milepost 255 and find the answer to fill in the blank, showing you were there.
    2) Ride to Bent's Old Fort and obtain a National Park passport stamp to show you were there.
    3) Try to get both bonii within the 6 hour rally.
    4) Or perhaps you'd just go for a fun ride in the mountains and join us at the finish with no points at all.
