Two-Bits - Riding Safely

Riding Safely

  • The primary goal of the Two-Bits Rally is to provide the entrants with an enjoyable, challenging and scenic introduction to multi-hour rallies. You won't be stretched too much in this shorter rally, but your planning skills and time management ability will surely be tested. You must however always remember to ride within your limitations and to practice good riding skills and disciplines as described by Nick Ienatsch in his The Pace articles. Peter Egan, writing in Cycle World, says that he always rides in such a way that he can become an old motorcyclist. Please remember that the Two-Bits Rally is an introduction to multi-hour, scavenger hunt rallies and is not a race. A high finishing order is certainly not worth taking a chance at riding beyond your skills.
  • Also, the good name of safe, long-distance motorcycling is at stake in any event such as this. For these reasons, participants will ride in a manner that will not tarnish that good name and reputation, will obey the rules of the rally (including "no stupid passes"), and will not act like jerks (a jerk is someone who rides in such a way that a mom or dad turns to their youngster in the car and says, "You'll never ride a motorcycle."). Also, whiners will not be tolerated (there will be a $5 fine for whining). So, when you come to the Two-Bits plan to ride safely and to have fun.
